Call for Volunteers

We are still looking for volunteers to help out as Guides:

Each participating country will be matched with a Guide. The Guide will act as the main point of contact for the country delegation and lead the country delegation to various events during the week. For example, the Guide will meet the country delegation upon arrival, attend excursions (Niagara Falls and Canada's Wonderland) and activities with the team during the week and attend the opening and closing ceremonies. The Guide for a particular country will speak both English and the language of that representative country. We are looking for Guides that are fluent in another language in addition to English. In particular, we are still looking for Guides who speak one of the following languages.

Time commitment: approx. 40 hours (mostly daytime), Saturday August 14 – Friday August 20.

All transportation costs, admissions to excursions and meals during volunteer times will be covered by the IOI 2010 Committee.

High school student volunteers will receive recognition for their volunteer time for use toward the Community Involvement requirement for Secondary School Graduation.

If you are interested in volunteering as a Guide, please download the Volunteer Application Form, fill it out, save it, and email it back to Jen Nissen, the IOI Volunteer Coordinator. The deadline has been extended to Friday, June 11th.

We are looking for volunteers of all ages to help us out with many different aspects of this week long event. This is an exciting opportunity to meet people from around the world and give a positive impression of Waterloo, Ontario and Canada. High school student volunteers will receive credit for their hours for use toward the Community Involvement requirement for Secondary School Graduation.

We are looking for volunteers who can communicate clearly and enjoy working with others and meeting people from around the world. Mathematical and/or technical inclination is not a requirement for most of these volunteer positions. Also, the ability to speak another language is an asset, but not a requirement; there will be teams from many English-speaking countries at the event. Local public transportation and meals will be provided for IOI volunteers during the week.

Please see the Volunteer Information Sheet and Volunteer Application Form.

If you are interested in volunteering, please download the Volunteer Application form, fill it out, save it, and email it back to Jen Nissen, the IOI Volunteer Coordinator, by Wednesday, March 31st.

Volunteer Registration is now up!

All IOI 2010 volunteers (Guides, Technical Helpers and General Assistants) should have received a login and password to register.

Please register before Monday, July 19th.

All volunteers also need to fill out the Permission Form and Waiver.

Volunteers who are 18 years of age or older can fill out the form for themselves. Volunteers who are under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign the form as well.

Permission forms should be returned to Jen Nissen, the Volunteer Coordinator, either in person, by mail, or by fax to (519) 746-6592.
